What does it mean to be a Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer?

As a family business and a niche contractor, our staff are everything to us and undoubtedly the most important asset that we have. More than contract wins or profit delivered, having the opportunity to watch and indeed be part of the development of a range of exceptional young people as they start their careers is probably one of the most rewarding career highlights I’ve had.

What are the top 3 things that your apprentice/s have delivered for your business in 2016?

  • Excellence – Having apprentices allows us to improve the service we offer clients, from customer service and marketing to operational delivery.
  • Pride – Not only the pride of the management seeing these young people flourish but also the pride they take in being given the opportunity.
  • Enthusiasm – From the managers who get to work with them day to day to the vigour the young people themselves show, always questioning and having an insatiable thirst to know more.

What does it mean to be a Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer?

FHC as a very small employer is extremely proud & honoured to be included again in the 2016 list of England’s Top 100 Apprentice Employers and to be named alongside other major UK organisations.  To any young person thinking about an apprenticeship: we would say go for it. Not everyone is cut out for a university type learning environment and it gives you the chance to learn, grow and to develop in an environment that is specifically tailored to utilise your skills and talents. It is the perfect grounding for working life, to obtain a qualification and a chance to understand the job in a safe learning position.

What are the top 3 things that your apprentice/s have delivered for your business in 2016?

To an employer who is considering taking on an apprentice for the first time, we would also say go for it as it gives businesses an extended period to see the abilities, commitment and enthusiasm of a member of staff who hopefully will have the opportunity to be taken on in a full time role. Apprenticeships give young people who may not have the confidence to interview well or achieve academically a real chance in working life.
